The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have finalised a seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Haryana elections, with AAP set to contest five seats, PTI reports, citing sources on Sunday.
The Haryana elections will take place in a single phase on October 5 and counting of votes will be on October 8.
According to sources within AAP, the alliance is expected to be formally announced on Monday. AAP leader Raghav Chadha and Congress’ Deepak Babaria have been engaged in positive discussions, and the parties are hopeful for a successful outcome.
Chadha noted that while the alliance talks are progressing well, AAP will only proceed if a mutually beneficial arrangement is achieved. He asserted that the discussions are focused on unity and addressing the needs of Haryana’s voters, rather than individual party aspirations.
While AAP has demanded 10 seats, Congress is willing to offer seven, according to sources.
The final decision on seat-sharing is expected before the nomination deadline on September 12.
