At least six schools in Delhi have received an email bomb threat earlier today. Students from BGS International Public School in Sector 5 were seen evacuating the building as the Delhi Police and Fire Department arrived at the location. This comes just a day after more than 50 schools across Delhi received bomb threats and ransom demands from a group called Terrorizer 111.

Calls were made to the officials between 6:35 AM and 7:48 AM from Andhra school in Prasad Nagar, BGS International Public School, Rao Man Singh School, Convent School, Maxfort School, and Indraprastha International School.

Teams from the Delhi Police, fire department, and bomb disposal squads rushed to the sites. The third such repeated threat this week, more than 30 schools received similar threats on Monday. While they were declared a ‘hoax’ later, the school operations have been disrupted frequently this week, and instilled fear among the concerned authorities in the schools.

Bomb threats this week

The Delhi Police revealed yesterday that at least 50 schools in Delhi NCR received bomb threats, including DAV Public School, Faith Academy, Doon Public School, and Sarvodhaya Vidyalaya. Additionally, Andhra School received the threat for two consecutive days.

However, this is not the first incident reported this week. On Monday, 32 schools, including Delhi Public School, Dwarka had to evacuate the premises after receiving a threat via email. Delhi Police responded promptly and reached the school ground for a full search of the premises.

Who is Terrorizer 111?

A common name noted in all emails received by the schools was ‘Terrorizer 111’. While the identity remains anonymous, the modus operandi remains constant. Along with the bomb threat, the email usually asks for a ransom of at least $5000 in cryptocurrency and urges emergency evacuation. Some schools even received threats of leaking personal staff records, data on parents and students, claiming that the attacker had complete access to the surveillance cameras. While these threats are declared a ‘hoax’ promptly afterwards, they not only lead to fear-mongering but also desensitisation to the matter, over time.
