Four security personnel, including two CRPF jawans and two policemen, were injured in an encounter with terrorists in Srinagar’s Khanyar area on Saturday, officials reported. The clash began after security forces launched a cordon and search operation based on intelligence about terrorist presence in the area.
The terrorists opened fire on the search party, leading to a firefight in which the personnel were injured. They were promptly taken to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital, where they are reportedly in stable condition.
In a separate operation near Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of Anantnag district, security forces gunned down two terrorists. Both operations are ongoing, with heightened security efforts across the region.
This is the third militancy-related incident in Kashmir since Friday evening. Yesterday, two migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh were injured in a targeted attack in Budgam. Both are recovering in a Srinagar hospital.
