The Mumbai-bound Lokmanya Tilak Express, which departed from Agartala earlier on Thursday (October 17), derailed at Dibalong station in Assam around 3:55 pm, according to a Railway spokesperson. Several coaches, including the power car and engine, went off the tracks, but no casualties or major injuries have been reported. 

“Eight coaches, including the power car and the engine of the train, got derailed. However, no casualty or major injuries have been reported,” the CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway zone said.

The incident occurred in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section under the Lumding division. Railway officials stated that both the Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Train have been dispatched from Lumding, along with senior officials, to oversee rescue and restoration efforts.

Train services in the Lumding-Badarpur single-line section have been suspended. Helpline numbers for Lumding are 03674 263120 and 03674 263126, the CPRO added.
