The Supreme Court on Tuesday (August 27) approved bail for K Kavitha, who had been arrested in March by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

Justices B R Gavai and K V Viswanathan noted that Kavitha had been in custody for approximately five months, and the investigations by the CBI and ED were complete.

The court overturned a July 1 decision by the Delhi High Court that had denied her bail. The high court had rejected the BRS leader’s bail requests, labelling her as a primary conspirator in the criminal conspiracy concerning the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

Kavitha, 46, was arrested by the ED at her Banjara Hills residence in Hyderabad on March 15 and by the CBI on April 11 at Tihar Jail. She has consistently denied all allegations against her.
