As the vote counting continues, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in light of the Delhi election results, stating that the elections have once again highlighted Gandhi’s inability to defeat the BJP.
Rao claimed that Gandhi not only failed to win but also weakened regional parties, indirectly aiding the BJP. He sarcastically congratulated Gandhi for “ensuring yet another victory” for the BJP, expressing confidence that Gandhi would take pride in his role in the BJP’s success. The statement reflects growing frustration with Gandhi’s leadership within regional political circles.
Rao said, “Delhi elections have proved yet again that Rahul Gandhi is incapable of defeating the BJP… He cannot win by himself and also ends up weakening the regional parties and indirectly helping the BJP… I congratulate Rahul Gandhi for ensuring that yet another victory has been given to BJP. I am sure he is very proud of this achievement…”
People voted for change: Priyanka
On the other hand, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra acknowledged the results but remained focused on the idea of change. Speaking to reporters, Priyanka stated that it was evident from the party’s meetings with the public that people were “fed up with the way things were” and were looking for change. “They voted for change,” she said, offering congratulations to those who won, including BJP candidates. Priyanka added that for Congress, the result meant working harder, staying connected with the ground, and being more responsive to people’s issues.
BJP Set to Form Government in Delhi
As per the latest trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP is leading in 45 of the 70 Delhi Assembly seats, while AAP is ahead in 21 seats. The Congress, however, faces a complete wipeout, with no significant wins in sight for the third consecutive election. The Congress party has struggled to regain its footing in Delhi since its last major victory in 2013, and the 2025 elections appear to have dealt another blow to its hopes of resurgence.
As the BJP nears a return to power in Delhi after over 26 years, the political landscape continues to shift, with regional and national parties evaluating their future strategies.
