Delhi’s new Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to take oath on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan, making her the fourth woman Chief Minister in the National Capital. Her name was announced after the BJP held the Legislature meeting on Wednesday evening. Gupta is a first time BJP MLA who represents the Shalimar Bagh constituency.

According to Gupta election affidavit, she has total assets of worth Rs 5.3 crore (Rs 5,31,34,981). Gupta’s liabilities amount to Rs 48,44,685, her husband Manish Gupta’s liabilities amount to Rs 70,39,035, and that of ‘HUF’ amounts to Rs 1,50,000. This entire amount is around Rs 1.2 crore.

According to My Neta, Gupta‘s total income shown in ITR for the Financial Year 2023-24 stood at Rs 6,92,050. In 2022-23, it was Rs 4,87,850, and in 2021-2022, it was Rs 6,51,771.

According to media reports, both Gupta and her husband have a life insurance policy worth Rs 53,68,323. They also have a car registered under Gupta’s husband’s name. She also owns a house in Rohini which is worth Rs 30 lakh.

Her financial stability and legal knowledge will be key strengths in handling the challenges of running the National Capital.

Gupta won the Shalimar Bagh seat in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 be defeating AAP incumbent MLA Bandana Kumari by 29,595 votes which Kumari had been winning since 2013. Gupta has also been a DUSU (Delhi University Students’ Union ) president and also a civic body councilor.
