Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday alleged that AAP leader Atishi, who has been selected as Delhi’s new chief minister, will serve as a “dummy” CM. Maliwal’s comments came after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post, and the AAP chose Atishi as his replacement.

In a sharp response, AAP leader and Timarpur MLA Dilip Pandey hit back, calling on Maliwal to resign from her Rajya Sabha seat if she had any “shame,” accusing her of aligning with the BJP. He said, “If she has any shame, she should give up her AAP ticket and seek one from the BJP instead.”

Maliwal further alleged that Atishi’s family had defended terrorist Afzal Guru, submitting multiple mercy petitions to prevent his execution. “Her parents fought for Afzal Guru, claiming he was innocent and a victim of political conspiracy,” she added.

Pandey, in his rebuttal, accused Maliwal of betraying the party, stating, “Maliwal takes a ticket from AAP but speaks from a BJP script.”

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has officially stepped down from his position. On Monday evening, the party’s Political Affairs Committee, comprising 12 key members, gathered at Kejriwal’s residence to discuss potential candidates for the top post.

Kejriwal proposed Delhi Education and PWD Minister Atishi Marlena as his successor, a decision that was met with unanimous approval from the committee. Atishi, long seen as the leading contender to replace Kejriwal, is now expected to take over as Delhi’s next Chief Minister.
