UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar announced on Tuesday that the deadline for applications for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG has been extended until March 31. Initially set until 11 pm on Tuesday, the deadline was rescheduled following requests from candidates and stakeholders.

“The deadline for online submission of the application form for the CUET-UG – 2024 has been extended up to 9:50 PM on March 31, 2024 based on the request received from candidates and other stakeholders,” Kumar explained.

The CUET-UG 2024 exam, set to take place from May 15 until 31, will feature a hybrid examination format introduced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), blending computer-based and pen-and-paper testing for various subjects. This standardised test, launched in 2022, aims to simplify admission processes across central, state, deemed, and private universities nationwide, with the previous cycle witnessing approximately 14.9 lakh registrations, underscoring its importance in higher education.

In 2023, the CUET exam was held during the time period of May 21-23, which reportedly saw participation from 90 universities, divided into 44 central universities and 46 other universities. Reportedly, the medium of the examination consisted of 13 languages.
