The COVID-19 cases in India have crossed the 4000 mark on June 3. With 4026 active cases in India, five fresh deaths have been reported so far. A trend of significant recoveries has been noted across Delhi (90) and Maharashtra (12). Kerala, which was the worst affected has reduced its reported cases to 1416 with 19 recoveries. However, Karnataka reported a steep rise of 58 positives taking the total above 300.
A notable increase was noted in West Bengal which has been showing an upwards trend since May 31. With an increase of 41 cases, the state now has 371 active COVID-19 cases.
COVID-19 death toll
Five fresh deaths have been reported as of June 3. She had In Kerala, an 80-year-old man who was suffering from acute pneumonia. In Maharashtra, 2 deaths of females were reported COVID positive. Paired with their underlying Diabetic condition, they passed away at 70 and 73 years of age.
One death each was reported from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. A senior citizen, 69 years of age tested positive who had Type 2 diabetes along with Parkinson’s disease. However, the resident of Bengal was fairly young. At 43, the female had acute coronary syndrome, septic shock and an acute kidney injury.
As per reported trends, so far, the COVID-19 variants NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 are adversely affecting adults with an acute underlying disease.
COVID-19 recoveries
June 3 has been a silver lining for the reported COVID-19 cases. Delhi has highlighted 90 recoveries from June 2 as the case load reduced from 436 to 393. Similarly, Kerala, which was the worst affected state rapidly declined 19 cases.
Recoveries just above 10 cases were observed in Maharashtra, Puducheery, and Uttar Pradesh. However, an overall increase of 65 cases and 5 deaths shows the numbers of COVID-19 in India so far.
