The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday declared the organisation named ‘Muslim League Jammu Kashmir’ an ‘unlawful association’ under the anti-terror law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and banned it for five years.
The organisation is led by Masarat Alam, interim chairman of the faction of All India Hurriyat Conference, which was earlier led by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
According to the official MHA notification, the MLJK-MA, chaired by Masarat Alam Bhat, “is known for its anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda.” It also stated the objective of the faction was to “get freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from India” and “realise its merger with Pakistan and establish Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir.”

“The PM @narendramodi government’s message is loud and clear that anyone acting against the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of our nation will not be spared and face the full wrath of the law,” Shah added.
