Uttar Pradesh: In a horrifying incident, a number of people sustained multiple injuries when as many as 10 cars collided due to the dense fog conditions on the Lucknow-Agra expressway near Bangarmau in Unnao district on Tuesday morning. The pictures of the accident show how terrible the incident was. A number of cars were totally destroyed. Considering the seriousness of the damage to the vehicles, the injuries received by the passengers would have been very serious. However, no loss of life has been reported due to the accident as yet by the authorities.
Dense fog has enveloped Lucknow and other parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Ayodhya, which woke up to a morning where nothing much was visible beyond 4-5 metres on Tuesday as mercury levels dipped. Fog has also shrouded parts of New Delhi where 28 trains have been delayed, three rescheduled and 18 cancelled due to low visibility.

Last month, a similar kind of collision took place on the Agra-Noida Yamuna Expressway in which one person lost his life and several others were injured. A shocking video of the accident in which cars rammed into each other due to low visibility was also released by the UP police.
A number of accidents have been reported from expressways in the past including one where a bus carrying over 50 schoolchildren from Himachal Pradesh crashed against a divider near a toll gate on the Yamuna Expressway in November. The accident had caused the driver’s death and had left 36 children injured.
The number of accidents in winter, in North India, show a significant jump every year with most of them blamed on foggy conditions on the road.
