With the Delhi Assembly session scheduled for September 26 and 27, BJP legislators have raised key concerns, demanding accountability from the AAP-led Delhi government on various issues affecting the people.

Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, along with other BJP MLAs, addressed a press conference on Wednesday, highlighting the urgent need for answers. Gupta questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s governance during his reported absence, asserting that no cabinet meetings or assembly sessions took place, nor were any files signed.

The BJP also held the Delhi government responsible for the tragic deaths of 50 people, allegedly due to drowning and electrocution, attributing it to the administration’s negligence.

Further, Gupta criticised the government for not presenting the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report in the Assembly for the last four years, calling it a violation of constitutional responsibilities. “We demand the CAG report be tabled,” he stressed.

MLA OP Sharma of Vishwas Nagar alleged widespread corruption across multiple departments, including hospitals and water services, accusing the government of running Delhi as a “Banana republic.”

BJP leaders also questioned the necessity of the session, citing its timing. “The last assembly session was held on April 8, and as per the Constitution, another must occur within six months to prevent automatic dissolution. Is this session a mere formality or does it serve an actual agenda?” Gupta asked.

In an effort to ensure all critical issues are discussed, the BJP is pushing to extend the two-day session.
