Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Saturday said the BJP tries to create tension in society whenever it fails to implement promises made during elections.

Addressing a rally in in support of the Congress-led UDF in the north Kerala hill district of Wayanad, Nitish said the people of Kerala should not fall into the BJP’s “trap” and should realise that the party wants to “shatter the secular fabric” of the state.

“The BJP raised the issues of ghar wapsi and beef only to foment communal trouble. The BJP did so when it could not keep the promises it had made during Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Nitish’s “warning to Kerala” came a day after PM Narendra Modi kick-started campaigning for the assembly polls in the state with the promise that his party would bring development.

Kumar said Modi had toured Bihar with promises during elections, but he never bothered to follow up on them. “What all promises the BJP had made during the Lok Sabha elections — Modi promised to bring black money back to the country, to give jobs to the youth and give support price for crops… Everything was promised to be done within 100 days of coming to power. Two years have elapsed after those tall promises, and Modi is hitting the campaign trail again with promises that are not going to materialise,” he said.

Earlier in Kozhikode, Kumar said the BJP should make its stand on the liquor policy clear.
