In a tragic incident, a dispute over tap water between two brothers, nephews of Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, escalated into a deadly gunfight, leaving one dead. The clash took place on Thursday in Jagatpur village, Naugachia police district, Bihar.
Vishwajit and Jayjit Yadav, the two brothers involved, exchanged gunfire during the altercation, resulting in Vishwajit’s death on the spot. Their mother, who attempted to intervene, along with Jayjit, sustained serious injuries and have been hospitalized, confirmed Naugachia SP Prerna Kumar. Authorities are continuing the investigation into the incident.
Nawgachia Superintendent of Police Prerna Kumari shared details on the incident, stating, “Initial investigations suggest that the dispute between the two brothers started over the use of a water tap, which quickly escalated into both parties exchanging gunfire. The deceased has been identified as Vishwajit Yadav, while the injured, Jayajit, has been referred for advanced medical treatment. A shell casing and a live cartridge were recovered from the scene.”
According to police, the confrontation began when Jayajit confronted Vishwajit as he was drawing water, claiming ownership of the tap. The argument turned physical, during which Vishwajit allegedly shot at Jayajit. In retaliation, Jayajit seized Vishwajit’s weapon and fired back. Their mother, Hina Devi, who attempted to intervene, was also injured by a gunshot to her arm, police reported.
