Bengaluru Weather Today: Bengaluru experienced one of its heaviest rainfalls of 2025 on Sunday, May 18, recording around 40 mm of rain within 24 hours. The downpour brought the city to a standstill in several areas, causing waterlogging and chaos—especially in low-lying zones like Sai Layout, where homes were flooded and residents reported significant damage to their belongings.
Bengaluru Weather: Yellow alert till THIS date
With rain showing no signs of stoppage, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert for Bengaluru and 22 other districts in Karnataka. The alert will remain in place until May 22, with the city expected to continue experiencing thunderstorms and cloudy skies well into the coming week.
According to the weather forecasts, residents should brace for daily afternoon thunderstorms through May 25, with temperatures hovering between 27°C and 29°C. The combination of heat and humidity is likely to increase the intensity of storms.
Bengaluru experiences severe waterlogging issues
Local authorities are on high alert, working to clear clogged drains, manage traffic disruptions, and ensure public safety. Commuters have been advised by authorities to plan ahead and avoid waterlogged routes, while residents in flood-prone areas are urged to remain indoors during heavy spells.
Experts warn that such intense and frequent rains at this time of year may indicate shifting weather patterns. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and recommends that citizens follow real-time updates and advisories through official channels.
