A man in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and trying to make the scene a suicide case. According to a Times of India report, the incident took place in Tavarekere on Thursday. An autopsy report later disclosed signs of strangulation, prompting the police to suspect foul play and detain the husband. They used to fight frequently as Mutturaju had suspicions about his wife’s fidelity.

Domestic disputes turn tragic

On the day of the incident, an argument between the two of them escalated. Mutturaju allegedly slapped Shilpa, leading her to fall and bleed. Police then believed that he may have strangled her and used her saree to hang the body from a ceiling hook, displaying it like she had taken her life on her own.

Autopsy reveals the truth

According to the TOI report, Mutturaju informed Shilpa’s mother that she had died by suicide. When she arrived at their home, he was not there. Neighbours and the house owner then informed the police. Authorities found the scene suspicious and ordered a postmortem which revealed that the death had been caused through strangulation not by hanging.

Police later in the evening found him at his workplace and he was drunk. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime and has been booked for murder.
