Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently under Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody in a case related to excise policy, congratulated CM Bhagwant Mann on the birth of his new baby girl on Thursday.

“Many congratulations to (Punjab CM Bhagwant) Mann for being blessed with a baby girl,” Kejriwal told reporters as he left Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi.

Earlier in the day, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife Gurpreet Kaur welcomed a baby girl. Mann took to social media to announce the news and shared a photo of the newborn. Mann married Gurpreet Kaur in 2022 after separating from his first wife, Inderpreet Kaur, in 2015.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court extended Kejriwal’s ED custody until April 1 in the money laundering case linked to an alleged excise policy scam. Kejriwal, who was arrested on March 21, appeared in court following the expiration of his six-day ED custody.

Yesterday, the Delhi High Court declined to provide interim relief, only issuing a notice regarding the plea challenging the arrest and remand.

Kejriwal maintains that the entire case is a “political conspiracy” and asserts there is no substantial evidence against him. The High Court is set to review Kejriwal’s plea on April 3, while he remains in ED custody till April 1.

Kejriwal’s arrest in the case set a precedent as the first instance in India where a sitting Chief Minister was apprehended. Notably, AAP leader Manish Sisodia and AAP Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh are already in custody in connection with the same case.
