Telugu film actor Allu Arjun has been arrested by the police in connection with a stampede that occurred during the premiere of his movie Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad on December 4. Arjun was arrested on Friday by a team from the Chikkadpally police station, where the case had been filed.
The incident led to the death of a 39-year-old woman, while her son was left critically injured.
The police have filed charges against Allu Arjun, the management of Sandhya Theatre, and his security team. Authorities noted that they had not received any prior information about the actor’s presence at the event, which contributed to the lack of adequate security arrangements.
According to a report in The Indian Express, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Central Zone, Hyderabad Police, Akshansh Yadav at the time of filing the FIR said, “A case has been filed under BNS section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt) at Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased person. It is being investigated. Stringent action as per law will be taken against all the persons responsible for the chaotic situation inside the theatre leading to the death of a person and injury to others.”

Earlier this month, a tragic incident occurred during the screening of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The chaos erupted when large crowds gathered to see the film’s star, Allu Arjun, who was present at the event along with music director Devi Sri Prasad. In the ensuing turmoil, the theatre’s main gate collapsed, triggering a stampede. A 35-year-old woman tragically lost her life, while her 9-year-old son suffered severe injuries.
Following the incident, Allu Arjun expressed his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and shared his sorrow over the tragic loss. He also donated Rs 25 Lakh to the family.
“Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey,” the actor said.
