Days after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the Election Commission had not approved their campaign song, party MLA Dilip Pandey, who wrote and sang the song, said that it has now been approved.

The approval came from the Delhi CEO’s office.

In a post in Hindi on X, Pandey said, “Truth can be troubled, not defeated! ‘Jail ka Jawab Vote se’ is not just a campaign song of AAP but it is the essence of the sentiment going on in the minds of the common people of the country. That is why, in the end, truth prevailed and the Election Commission approved the use of the campaign song in the elections. Satyamev Jayate!”

Previously, on April 28, the party had alleged that the Election Commission had “banned” its campaign song “Jail ka Jawab Vote se”. However, Delhi poll body officials clarified that AAP was instructed to amend the song as it violated Election Commission guidelines and advertising codes.

After making the necessary modifications, AAP resubmitted its proposal to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), leading to the approval of the song.

Sources in the Delhi CEO’s office clarified that the song was not banned but AAP was instructed to revise its content to comply with the Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994, and Election Commission guidelines.

The Delhi poll body had said that the original song contained phrases that were “slanderous” and contained “criticism of the ruling party on the basis of unverified facts” while also casting doubts on the judiciary and police.
