Dishoom box office collections prediction: A cricket theme, the hulking star John Abraham, the sensational Varun Dhawan, a sexy Jacqueline Fernandez, the one and only Akshay Kumar – how far would a spectacular mix like this go? Plus, the Dishoom cast has performed wonderfully well, the timing of the movie is great as it does not have Sultan, Kabali rivalry to reckon with and on top of that is another positive stemming from Team India bashing the West Indies into submission in a Test just days ago. With all these empowering points behind the movie, Dishoom collection prediction becomes an exercise of soaring expectations. But how far will the movie go is the question? Also, the monsoon in India is playing spoilsport – the entire North India has been inundated and early morning shows will probably be a washout. Still, the movie promises enough of a bang for the buck and audiences will not be deterred by water sloshing around their knees as they head for their favourite cinemas!
And now, the hard question? Does Dishoom have the Rs 100 cr club potential? Looking at how the film has the action and the comedy pat and even boasts cameos from the superstar Akhay Kumar who complements and takes John Abraham, Varun Dhawan bonding to a much higher plane, and then there is Nargis Fakhri too, an entry into this exclusive club is a definite possibility with these kind of performances.
However, Dishoom opening day occupancy rate is negatively impacted already by the rains as far down south as Bangalore. Expectations were for it to reach as high as 50-55%. Still, the theatres are seeing quite a good traffic and seats filled up fast in the initial shows and much moire is expected in the evening as people let their hair down and plan an exciting few hours of fun, food and frolic to celebrate the end of the working week. Whether it is a family outing, colleagues eyeing a welcome break from the starchy professional situation, or a couple craving for some extra hours of quality time together, the new India will be out in strength for sure as darkness approaches.
While the eventual target of any multi-starrer movie is the Rs 100 crore mark, they don’t hit it on the first day! No, not even Salman Khan, nor miracle man Rajinikanth have managed to hit even half that ever – only one movie, Baahubali, has done that. But as far as Dishoom is concerned with the kind of occupancy rate we are seeing, the collections figures that these will translate into will be in the realm of Rs 15 cr give or take a couple of crores. The even better part for Dishoom that will positively impact it is that it will get a big boost on Saturday and Sunday – the true weekend.
Since the theme of the movie is so positive and that too tilted towards comedy, the interest in it is likely to stay high for quite some time. Also, the real world is expected to give the reel world a booster shot too. While the India-Pakistan face-off continues to be driven across the news media channels it is expected to keep grabbing eyeballs, and any look at similar content (Ind-Pak cricket rivalry), which is provided by Dishoom, will get adequate attention. Then if Virat Kohli and co smash through the West Indies again over the next couple of weeks, John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and the filmmakers will be laughing all the way to the bank.
And we still haven’t talked about the word-of-mouth booster shot. Since content is fine and the audiences likely to be pleasantly surprised, most are probably going to tilt in favour of praising the movie to whoever they meet or are talking to – in person, on social media, or on phone. If the dialogues become catchy enough to voice, repeat business for Dishoom is guaranteed too.
