DU admission 2019 UG: The Board examination season is over and now it is time for the admission season to begin. Delhi University is one of the most sort after institutions by students when it comes to undergraduate admission. The main attraction of Delhi University is that it is a public university due to which the fees for courses offered here is much lower compared to other educational institutions across India. Every year, students gear up for their Class 12th board examinations to build up good merit in order to get into the University of Delhi. As the board results have started pouring in, students are now waiting for the Delhi University admission forms to be released. The same is expected to begin in the first week of May 2019.
Here is a list of the top 10 colleges in Delhi University. It is based on the list of Best Colleges in India, National Institutional Ranking Framework 2019. The rankings were released by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD).

1. Miranda House
Established in 1948, the foundation stone of the Miranda House was laid down by Lady Edwina Mountbatten. It is a constituent college for women at Delhi University that offers programmes in science and liberal arts. It has been ranked as the best college in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework of 2019.
2. Hindu College
Established in 1899, the Hindu College is one of the oldest institutions in Delhi. It was founded by Krishan Dassji Gurwale in the backdrop of the nationalist struggle that was going on against the British Raj. The college was originally affiliated to the Panjab University as the University of Delhi was not formed back then. The college is now a constituent part of DU and it offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Commerce, Social Sciences, Sciences and Humanities.
3. St. Stephen’s College
The St Stephen’s College was Reverend Samuel Scott Allnutt, Chaplain of Delhi in the year 1854. The college was originally affiliated to the University of Calcutta, but it was later changed to the University of Punjab in 1882. It was in the year 1922, when the St. Stephen`s College became a constituent college of the Delhi University. The college offers UG and PG courses in liberal arts and sciences. It has been ranked at number 4 by the NIRF ranking of 2019.
4. Lady Shri Ram College for Women
The Lady Shri Ram College for Women was established in the year 1956 in the memory of Phoolan Devi (Lady Shri Ram) by her husband the late Lala Shri Ram. The National Institutional Ranking Framework of 2019 has ranked the college at number 5 among the best colleges in India. It offers programmes like Bachelors of Arts (H), B.Com, BA, BSc, B.El.Ed, Journalism and Mass Communication (H), others.
5. Shri Ram College of Commerce
Founded in 1926, the Shri Ram College of Commerce was established by Lala Shri Ram. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious college for Commerce and Economics. It has been ranked at number 7 in the list of best colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework of 2019. It offers Bachelors and Masters programmes in Commerce and Arts.
6. Hans Raj College
Established in the year 1948, in the memory of Mahatma Hansraj, the Hans Raj College was initially started for men but in 1978 it became co-educational. It has been placed at number 9 among the top colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of 2019. It offers programmes in Science, Liberal Arts, and Commerce.
7. Gargi College
Established in 1967, the Gargi College is one of the top colleges that is affiliated to the Delhi University. It is a college for women and it offers programmes in Commerce, Arts and Humanities, Science and Education.
8. Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College
The Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College was founded by the Sanatan Dharma Sabha in 1959. The college’s governing body was taken over by Shri Atma Ram Chadha in 1967 and hence the name of the college. It has been ranked 14 among the Best Colleges in India in the NIRF 2019 ranking. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses like BA, BCom, BSc, MA and MCom.
9. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College
The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College was established in the year 1990 in the memory of renowned philosopher Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. It has been ranked 16 among the Best Colleges in India in the NIRF 2019 ranking. It is fully funded by Government of Delhi and it offers various undergraduate courses like Bachelor of Management Studies, B.Sc.(Hons.) Mathematics, B.A. Programme, among various others.
10. Kirori Mal College
The Kirori Mal College was established in 1954. Ranked 18 among the Best Colleges in India in the NIRF 2019 ranking, Kirori Mal College offers undergraduate and graduate courses in science, arts, and commerce.
