Home appliance startup Nuuk has raised $5 million (Rs 40 crore) in a Series A funding round led by Vertex Ventures SEAI, with participation from Good Capital and several angel investors. Among the investors are Rohit Kapoor (CEO of Swiggy), Vivek Gambhir (ex-CEO of Boat and Godrej Consumer), Richard Rekhy (ex-CEO of KPMG India), Suhail Sameer (ex-CEO of BharatPe), Taru Kapoor (ex-GM of Tinder India & South Asia), and Deep Bajaj (Founder of Sirona Hygiene).
Founded by Gazal Kalra, co-founder of Rivigo, and Shalabh Gupta, former Chief Growth Officer at Noise, Nuuk focuses on providing high-performance home appliances aimed at the millennial and Gen Z consumer base. The company emphasises human-centered design and innovative product features to meet the demands of a younger demographic increasingly seeking modern, functional, and stylish appliances.
The Series A funding will support Nuuk’s expansion plans, including broadening its product offerings, particularly in the areas of home environment, vacuum cleaners, and meal preparation appliances. The company is also eyeing the development of smart IoT devices and other advanced home solutions. One of the brand’s notable products is the All-Day Wireless Fan, which features BLDC motors and battery technology capable of delivering up to 16 hours of cooling on a single charge.
The company’s focus on product innovation and appealing to the changing lifestyles of young consumers has helped it gain traction in the market. Nuuk’s products are marketed with a “design first, function always” approach, which aims to combine aesthetics with high functionality.
According to Piyush Kharbanda, General Partner at Vertex Ventures SEAI, the home appliance sector is ripe for disruption, and the startup’s execution has stood out in the direct-to-consumer (D2C) space. He expressed confidence in the leadership team’s ability to scale the brand further.
Kalra and Gupta emphasised their vision for Nuuk, stating that the brand aims to cater to the needs of a modern, tech-savvy consumer base, delivering appliances that combine high performance with user-friendly designs.
With the funding, Nuuk plans to accelerate product development, expand its manufacturing capabilities in India, and invest in brand growth to cater to a wider audience.
