Roshanara Road in North Delhi will be closed for both traffic and pedestrian movement for more than a month, starting from Friday midnight until November 18, due to the construction of twin tunnels by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), according to a traffic advisory issued on Friday.
The advisory, issued by Delhi Traffic Police, states that the road will remain closed from Roshanara roundabout to Pul Bangash metro station on both carriageways to facilitate the construction work.
In order to manage the disruption, buses and heavy vehicles coming from ISBT and heading towards Shakti Nagar via Roshanara Road will be diverted through Shamnath Marg, Civil Lines, Mall Road up to Khalsa College, and then towards Shakti Nagar Chowk. Similarly, vehicles going in the opposite direction will follow the same route.
Light motor vehicles will be rerouted from Barfkhana Chowk via Lala Jagan Nath Marg to Clock Tower, Chaudhary Nand Lal Marg, and Dinanath Marg through Parshuram underpass.
The police have urged commuters to avoid using these roads and opt for public transport, particularly the metro, wherever possible to ease congestion.
