The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved a budget of Rs 699.19 crore for the enhancement of a segment of National Highway 58 in Gujarat’s Palanpur, PTI reported. NH-58 serves as a crucial link between Gujarat and Rajasthan, facilitating access to destinations like Ambaji Temple, Udaipur, Polo Forest and various historical sites.
This funding will be utilised for the improvement of the Khokhra Gujarat Border – Vijayanagar – Antarsuba – Mathasur road section of NH-58, as stated in an official announcement.
The project entails the development of the current single or two-lane road into a two-lane road with paved shoulders, including realignment across 14 stretches traversing rugged terrain.
In another development, MoRTH has allocated Rs 576.22 crore for the four-laning of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli stretch of NH-373 in Hassan district, Karnataka, spanning 22.3 kilometres. This route is integral to accessing popular tourist spots such as Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu and Shravanabelagola.
Additionally, Rs 421.15 crore has been allocated by the ministry for constructing a four-lane Gauripur Bypass along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old), from Dumardoha Pt-II to the Baladmara road in Dhubri district, Assam. Covering a distance of 9.61 kilometres, this initiative aims to ease traffic congestion in Gauripur town and address safety concerns associated with sharp bends on the current highway.
