Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday inaugurated four new flyovers in Indore. The construction of these flyovers is aimed at addressing the city’s growing traffic woes. The flyovers, constructed at Phuti Kothi, Bhanwarkuan, Khajrana and Luv-Kush intersections, cost over Rs 200 crore and are expected to significantly streamline traffic in the state’s commercial capital.

During the inauguration, Yadav emphasized his government’s commitment to alleviating traffic congestion in Indore, which has the highest vehicle density in Madhya Pradesh. “For the first time in the city’s history, four newly constructed flyovers have been opened simultaneously for traffic,” he stated, adding that his administration is prepared to take any measures necessary to further improve road infrastructure.

According to officials, these flyovers, completed over the last two years, will facilitate the movement of approximately 7.5 lakh vehicles daily, saving both time and fuel for commuters.

The Chief Minister also revealed plans to construct additional flyovers in the future, pledging that traffic jams at intersections will soon become a thing of the past. “Even if it requires building 35 new flyovers, we will do it,” Yadav said. Additionally, he announced that the Phuti Kothi flyover would be named after Sant Sevalal Maharaj, a revered figure in the Banjara community.

In tandem with these infrastructure improvements, Yadav also announced a new Rs 400 crore sewerage project for Indore, which aims to mitigate waterlogging during the monsoon season.

At the event, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya raised concerns about the rising drug trade in Indore, linking the issue to suppliers from Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh. Reacting to Vijayvargiya’s comments, Yadav affirmed his government’s resolve to combat the drug menace, stating that those involved in illegal narcotics will face strict action.
