Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday, July 27, launched a mobile application called ‘Road Pothole Attention’ along with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). 

Using advanced technology, the app helps identify and repair potholes across Bengaluru’s road network, bringing transparency and efficiency to the table. It employs GPS technology to map all the roads that fall under the jurisdiction of the BBMP, The Indian Express reported. The app will be to identify the potholes via their latitude and longitude, record their dimensions and generate specific orders for their repair. 

Not just the BBMP officials and Bangalore Traffic Police Department officials, even the common people will be able to access the app. They will be able to report potholes to the authorities as well via the app, IE said.

In order to use the app, people will have to download the  ‘Raste Gundi Gamana’ or ‘Road Pothole Attention’ application on their mobiles. They can then select their preferred language between English and Kannada. Users will be able to register via their mobile number.

The app detects the user’s current location automatically. Using the app, users can describe the issue and submit a complaint post which they get a docket number. The information is then forwarded to the relevant authorities, who are required to address the complaint within a specified time frame. Users can also track the status of their complaints through the app. Available for Android devices, the application requires a one-time login and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
