In the Union Budget 2024-25, the Modi government has allocated Rs 2,582 crore for Delhi to develop rail infrastructure in the national capital of the country.
“Rs 2,582 crore allocated to Delhi for development of rail infrastructure in the budget for the year 2024-25,” said Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday.
As per the Ministry of Railways, the average outlay increased from Rs 96 crore in 2009-14 to Rs 2582 crore in 2024-25, an increase of 27 times!
Allocation in 2024-25 is approx 2,590 per cent more than the average of 2009-14, the minister further said in a post on social media platform X.
On Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Modi government 3.0’s Budget. In the Union Budget 2024-25, the central government has allocated a capital expenditure of Rs 2,62,200 crore for developing railway infrastructure in India.
In 2023-24, the Modi govt allocated Rs 2,40 lakh crore. In the FY22-23, the allocation was Rs 1.40 lakh crore.
Under the ownership of the Ministry of Railways, Indian Railways is a statutory body of the Government of India (GOI).
