Odisha is all set to add three more Vande Bharat Express trains to its list from September 15 onwards. According to an announcement from the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the new services will include the Tata-Berhampur Vande Bharat Express train, Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express train and Durg-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express train.

These three trains are part of a larger initiative that includes ten Vande Bharat trains to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi is scheduled to visit Tata Nagar (Jamshedpur) on September 15. 

In a post on X, Chouhan wrote, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to visit Jamshedpur on 15th September. Along with the gift of Vande Bharat train, he will deposit the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the accounts of 1 lakh 13 thousand 195 poor people.”

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has been invited by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to attend the launch event at Berhampur on Sunday. ECoR General Manager Parameswar Funkwal personally delivered the invitation and message from Vaishnaw to the Chief Minister.

Vande Bharat Express trains in Odisha

Odisha currently operates three Vande Bharat trains, and this number will increase to six with the addition of the new services.

To further enhance railway infrastructure in Odisha, the Central Government has allocated Rs 10,586 crore in the 2024-25 budget, as stated by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
