The General Manager of Northern Railways, Shobhan Chaudhuri, recently conducted an inspection of the Srinagar-Sangaldan Section of the USBRL Project in Jammu and Kashmir, overseeing various railway operations.

Accompanying him were CAO/USBRL SC Gupta, along with Senior Officers from Firozpur Division, IRCON, and KRCL. The inspection, according to a statement issued by Northern Railways, encompassed multiple facets such as passenger train maintenance, infrastructure development, and ensuring passenger satisfaction.

Inspection of DEMU Passenger Train

During his meticulous examination, GM/NR focused on the upkeep and cleanliness of the DEMU Passenger Train 04618, which operates from Srinagar to Pampore. He also engaged directly with passengers to understand their expectations from Indian Railways, emphasising the significance of timely and punctual services.

Shobhan Chaudhuri extensively reviewed ongoing projects within the section, including the establishment of new traffic facilities, goods sheds, and the enhancement of passenger amenities. The objective was to ensure that these projects align with the region’s evolving needs and bolster overall operational efficiency.

Assessment of Banihal-Sangaldan Section

Furthermore, the visit included an assessment of newly inaugurated stations in the Banihal-Sangaldan Section, particularly Khari, Sumber, and Sangaldan. Chaudhuri scrutinised the facilities provided to passengers at these stations, actively engaging with both passengers and staff to address any concerns and gather feedback.

Additionally, Shobhan Chaudhuri directed project authorities to closely monitor all remaining works to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
