The Vistadome coaches have garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from passengers. These coaches, fitted with glass tops and large windows, offer passengers breathtaking views of valleys, waterfalls, and rivers on various routes. 

The Ministry of Railways on Sunday (May 13) shared a captivating video of a train ride in the Vistadome Coaches, offering breathtaking views of nature’s splendor. These specially designed coaches are revolutionising train travel, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the scenic beauty of India like never before.

“Experience breathtaking views in the lap of nature with Vistadome Coaches,” the tweet by the Ministry of Railways read. 

Vistadome coaches introduction

Vistadome Coaches, with their large glass windows and glass roofs, provide passengers with panoramic views of the picturesque landscapes along the railway routes. Initially, Vistadome coaches were introduced on the Mumbai-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express train in 2018. It has now gone up to six long-distance trains from Mumbai having Vistadome coaches and they are a huge hit with passengers.

Due to their immense popularity, these coaches were introduced on the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express train starting from 26 June, 2021. Responding to high demand, a second Vistadome coach was attached to the Deccan Queen on the Mumbai-Pune route from 15 August 2021.

Vistadome coaches features

In addition to the glass rooftop, the unique Vistadome coaches boast various extraordinary features such as wide window panes, rotatable seats and pushback chairs, wide side sliding doors for Divyangs (differently-abled passengers), LED lights, GPS-based information system, electrically operated automatic sliding compartment doors, multiple television screens, toilets with ceramic tile flooring, and a viewing gallery, among others.
