The Coimbatore-Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express emerged as the 39th addition to India’s prestigious Vande Bharat Express fleet. This semi-high-speed train embarked on its inaugural journey from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu with the bustling metropolis of Bangalore in Karnataka on December 30, 2023. 

The auspicious event witnessed Prime Minister Narendra Modi remotely inaugurating the service through video conferencing from Ayodhya Dham Junction. Commencing its scheduled commercial operations on January 1, 2024, this express train epitomises the nation’s commitment to advancing rail travel and connectivity.

This express train is operated by the Southern Railway zone of Indian Railways. This is the fourth Vande Bharat Express for Bengaluru and the second one between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

During its journey, Coimbatore – Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express train halts at five stations including Tiruppur, Erode Jn., Salem Jn., Dharmapuri, and Hosur. The Coimbatore – Bengaluru Cantonment Vande Bharat Express covers a distance of 375 km in approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes, operating six days a week.

According to the South Western Railway, the journey of the train will commence from Coimbatore at 5 am, making halts at Omalur (7:40 am), Dharmapuri (8:30 am), and Hosur (10:05 am), before concluding at Bengaluru Cantonment by 11:30 am. This marks a historic moment as the train becomes the inaugural service departing from the redeveloped Bengaluru Cantonment station, anticipated to be fully operational by 2025.
