On December 14, Canada released the eligibility criteria for a new permanent residency pathway known as the Francophone Community Immigration Class in the Official Gazette. Foreign nationals can apply for permanent residence as members of the Francophone community immigration class.
The Francophone community immigration class is an economic class for foreign nationals wishing to establish themselves in a designated community outside Quebec, meeting specific requirements. A designated community in Canada has a Francophone minority population within its boundaries, and they are eligible for the Francophone community immigration class.
The applicant must demonstrate that they have the work experience for a genuine offer of employment in TEER Category 0, 1, 2, 3,4 or 5.
The work experience must have been acquired over a continuous period of at least one year of full-time work, or the equivalent in
part-time work in an occupation listed in the National Occupational Classification.
The work experience requirement does not apply to an applicant who obtained an eligible credential from a post-secondary program and the applicant was enrolled as a full-time student during the entire period of the program.
An applicant who applies for permanent residence under the Francophone community immigration class from within Canada must have a valid temporary resident status at the time of their application and must maintain a valid temporary resident status until permanent resident status is granted.
The designated employer means an employer designated as eligible to participate in the Francophone community immigration class by an economic development organization.
