Two metro stretches, from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station, and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, it has been reported that the Pune Metro service is continuing to see a rise in its passenger count.
As per a press release, a total of 31,20,293 passengers took the Metro from July 1 to July 31, with an average daily passenger count of 1,06,101, The Indian Express reported. During this period, the Metro also generated over Rs 4.98 crore.
Maha Metro MD Shravan Hardikar said that about 53,025 passengers have obtained One Pune Card. “The feeder services from Ramwadi Metro Station to the airport and EON IT Park are receiving a positive response. PMPML and Maha Metro are effortlessly working to expand feeder services to more routes,” he added.
Out of the total passengers, 1,070,655 traveled from PCMC Station to District Court Station on the Purple Line 1, while 2,049,638 passengers traveled from Vanaz Station to Ramwadi Station on the Aqua Line 2.
Busiest Pune Metro stations
As of now Pune Metro has 24 operational stations. The Metro stations with the highest passenger numbers were PCMC Station, with approximately 14,000 passengers per day, Ramwadi Station with around 11,000 passengers per day, Pune Railway Station with about 8,000 passengers daily, Vanaz Station with roughly 7,500 passenger, and Nal Stop Station with approximately 7,000 passengers.
It has been observed that approximately 24,878 passengers transfer daily between the Purple Line and Aqua Line at District Court Interchange Station, IE reported.
Feeder bus service
Currently, 13 routes have feeder bus service running in association with Pune Metro and PMPML. Reportedly, over 10,000 passengers are using this service daily. More than 400 passengers use the feeder bus service from Ramwadi Station to the airport, while over 1,000 passengers utilise the recently started service from Ramwadi Metro Station to EON IT Park.
Metro and PMPML are collaborating to expand feeder bus services to additional routes.
