Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd. (MMMOCL) has announced an extension of metro train services in Mumbai during the Navratri Festival, ensuring convenient travel for citizens participating in the festivities. The additional services will be available from October 7 to October 11, 2024, as per the guidelines set by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who also serves as the Chairman of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
Increased Daily Trips to Accommodate Late-Night Travelers
During this period, 12 extra trips will be operated daily, with a headway of just 15 minutes, to accommodate the increased demand for late-night travel. This will bring the total number of daily trips from 282 to 294. The additional metro services will run past 11 PM on routes between Andheri West and Gundavali, ensuring that attendees of midnight celebrations can travel conveniently and economically.
Sanjay Mukherjee, Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA, highlighted the importance of enhancing transportation services during the festive period, stating, “Navratri is a festival that brings people together, and it is our responsibility to provide efficient and safe transportation for all devotees and citizens. By extending the metro train services, we are ensuring that commuters have an easy and comfortable travel option during late-night celebrations.”
