In a significant move to enhance Rajasthan’s public transportation, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot inaugurated projects worth Rs 1,410 crore, which also includes Phase 1-C of the Jaipur Metro.
A series of significant projects were unveiled in Jaipur by CM Gehlot. These included Phase 1-C of the Jaipur Metro, a vital addition to the city’s public transportation infrastructure, with a budget of Rs 980 crore. Furthermore, CM Gehlot laid the foundation stones for nine development initiatives by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), totaling approximately Rs 430 crore.
The chief minister personally experienced the convenience of the metro system by traveling from the Ramnagar metro station to Badi Chaupar. During his visit to Badi Chaupar Metro Station, Gehlot explored an exhibition showcasing the progress achieved by the Jaipur Metro. Additionally, Gehlot unveiled statues in honor of seven freedom fighters at Lakshmi Mandir Tiraha.
All about Phase 1-C of the Jaipur Metro project
Phase 1-C of the Jaipur Metro project involves extending the existing 11.97 km Pink Line (Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar) from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar, incorporating two stations at Ramganj Chaupar and Transport Nagar. The estimated cost of this extension, as per the detailed project report (DPR), is Rs 856 crore.
The total length of Phase 1-C of the Jaipur Metro project will be 2.85 km, with 2.26 km underground and 0.59 km elevated sections. This project is anticipated to be completed by March 2025, and it is projected to serve over 1.38 lakh riders by 2031.
In August 2023, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd secured the civil construction contract (Package UG-03) for Jaipur Metro Phase 1-C, encompassing the construction of twin tunnels spanning 2.65 km beneath the old city, along with the establishment of a new station at Ramganj Chaupar.
Furthermore, a 0.76 km elevated route will include another new station at Transport Nagar, enhancing connectivity and accessibility. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is serving as the General Consultant (GC) for this project.
