Bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024 cemented its status as a pivotal event for India’s construction and infrastructure sectors, spotlighting skill development and innovative technologies to drive the nation’s growth. Covering 135,000 square meters and hosting 984 exhibitors, the expo featured state-of-the-art machinery, sustainable solutions, and advanced construction methodologies.
Inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, the event emphasised India’s emergence as a global infrastructure hub. Industry stalwarts such as Dimitrov Krishnan and Bhupinder Singh advocated for sustainable practices, workforce development and international collaborations to achieve a resilient and competitive future.
“Our goal is to lower construction costs while maintaining quality,” stated Nitin Gadkari, emphasizing the pivotal role of alternative fuels and biofuels in advancing sustainable development. He also underscored India’s unique strengths, such as a young and talented engineering workforce, along with affordable raw materials and labor. “With a vast pool of skilled young professionals, competitively priced raw materials, and low labor costs, India has the potential to produce high-quality components at reduced expenses, ensuring affordability in the final products,” he noted.
The event’s central theme, Banayenge Viksit Bharat (Building a Developed India), underscored the urgency of upskilling the workforce to harness the potential of digital transformation and next-generation machinery. In collaboration with ICEMA and CRRI, the expo organised over 30 knowledge-sharing sessions focusing on topics such as recycling techniques, utilising waste materials in road construction and innovative demolition technologies.
“Bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024 has firmly established itself as a platform that bridges India’s unique needs with global expertise, playing its part in shaping the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat.’ The strong participation this year highlights India’s growing prominence as a hub for innovation and progress in infrastructure. From live demonstrations of advanced machinery to focus discussions on sustainability, emerging technologies, and project execution, this edition showcased practical steps the industry is taking to meet India’s ambitious infrastructure goals,” Bhupinder Singh, CEO, Messe Muenchen India, said.

With 6,298 buyer-seller meetings and more than 20,000 product launches, the expo highlighted the transformative role of technology and collaboration in shaping India’s infrastructure landscape. Features like the Finance Zone and International Pavilions provided a global perspective, fostering cross-border partnerships and encouraging foreign investment.
