The consecration ceremony for the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi precedes its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi later today. As the inauguration is scheduled for Wednesday evening, priests are currently performing rituals in preparation for the event.
Prime Minister Modi, currently undertaking an official visit to the United Arab Emirates from February 13-14, will mark this historic event with the temple’s inauguration. In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, PM Modi took to social media platform X and thanked UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his unwavering support in the construction of the BAPS Hindu Temple, emphasizing its significance in fostering strong bonds between India and the UAE. He lauded the temple as a testament to the deep-rooted friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
Earlier this week, Sadhu Brahmaviharidas, spearheading international relations for the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, extended profound gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his exceptional generosity and open-mindedness in facilitating the temple’s construction. He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by UAE leaders in making this monumental project a reality.
Symoblism in BAPS Temple’s design
Sadhu Brahmaviharidas unveiled the intricate symbolism embedded in the temple’s design, particularly its seven spires, symbolizing unity among the seven emirates and paying homage to seven revered deities. The temple’s incorporation of advanced technology, including 300 sensors, further elevates its significance as a marvel of modern engineering.
Even before its official inauguration, the BAPS Hindu Temple has transcended boundaries, becoming a symbol of global unity. With over 60,000 individuals from diverse backgrounds contributing to its construction, the temple stands as a beacon of harmony and solidarity.
White marble pillars made in India
Over the past three years, over 2,000 skilled artisans from the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat have meticulously carved white marble pillars, depicting intricate designs featuring peacocks, elephants, horses, camels, phases of the moon, and a variety of musicians playing traditional instruments like the drum and sitar. Every corner and crevice of these pillars has been carefully hand-carved by hundreds of artisans in India. Thousands of these stone pieces have been transported to the UAE and expertly assembled on site, resembling a colossal 3D jigsaw puzzle.
Recently, ambassadors from 40 nations congregated to celebrate the temple, underscoring its pivotal role as a unifying force on the global stage. As the world awaits the grand inauguration, the BAPS Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and cultural exchange.
