Ford India on Wednesday launched the second-generation hatchback, Figo, with a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 4.29 lakh in for the base petrol variant in Delhi. The diesel variant is being priced at Rs 5.29 lakh, the company said.
Ford Figo hatchback will compete with rivals Maruti Suzuki’s Swift; Hyundai Grand i10; and Tata Motor’s Bolt cars.
Ford Figo is the second consecutive launch by the US-based automobile company in the past two months, after it launched Ford Figo Aspire. The company saw sales of its Figo Aspire car grow in the first month of the launch, outpacing competitor Honda’s Amaze car. Figo Aspire sold 5,200 units, while Amaze sold 3200 units in August.
The launch comes ahead of festive season when consumers prefer to buy cellphones to cars. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have launched S-Cross and Creta in the utility vehicle segment, while Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled its TUV300. Maruti is also expected to launch its Baleno hatchback in October.
