The long-awaited Bajaj V15 was launched silently in the country today at Rs 61,999 (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price, the bike which uses metal of INS Vikrant (India’s first aircraft carrier) in its construction, will attract buyers looking for an affordable premium motorcycle.

Though no launch event was held for the Bajaj V15, the company revealed the prices after witnessing a high footfall at its showrooms across the nation. Bookings for the vehicle began earlier this week only and the deliveries will commence from mid-March 2016.

Ex-showroom prices of the Bajaj V15 in Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata are Rs 62,820, Rs 63,682 and Rs 65,498 respectively. The company says that the cost of mandatory items such as crash guard, cafe racer rear cover, saari guard and rear grab handle is Rs 999, and is included in the ex-showroom price.

Powering the Bajaj V15 is a 149.5cc, single-cylinder, DTS-i engine that, mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox, produces 12bhp at 7,500rpm and 13Nm at 5,500rpm. Coming to its dimensions, the Bajaj V bike measures 2044mm in length, 780mm in width, 1355mm in wheelbase, 780mm in saddle height and 1070mm in height. The bike offers a ground clearance of 165mm and weighs 135.5kg.

The Bajaj V15 looks like a Scrambler, but has Cafe Racer-inspired styling elements as well. Other elements include 5-twin spoke alloy wheels, removable rear cowl, LED tail-lamps, INS Vikrant badge and instrument panel with colour changing LEDs. The bike is available in two colours – Ebony Black & Pearl White.
