Cancer continues to be a major public health issue globally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths.

According to Google Trends data, there was a spike in the search volume of ‘cancer day’ with 5K+ users and an increase of 200 percent. According to the trend breakdown, users are searching for terms like cancer day, world cancer day 2025 theme, cancer day 2025 and cancer.

The Interest by Subregion data of Google Trends showed that users from Kerala searched the term most followed by Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh.

Users also searched for Related Topics like Awareness ribbon, Shutterstock, Lifestyle and Breast Cancer Awareness.

According to Google Trends, users also searched for Related Queries like is today world cancer day, world cancer day slogans, world cancer day wishes, cancer day hashtags and symptoms of cancer etc.

Around one-third of deaths from cancer are due to tobacco use, high body mass index, alcohol consumption, low fruit and vegetable intake, and lack of physical activity. In addition, air pollution is an important risk factor for lung cancer. Cancer-causing infections, such as human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis, are responsible for approximately 30% of cancer cases in low- and lower-middle-income countries.

Many cancers can be cured if detected early and treated effectively. Tobacco use, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and air pollution are risk factors for cancer and other noncommunicable diseases, WHO revealed.
