What is PM Modi going to do in UAE and Qatar?

In his departure statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he is looking forward to meeting UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and having varied discussions with him on taking the nations’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership forward. Recently, the UAE President was in Gujarat as the Chief Guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.

While he is in UAE, he will also address the gathering of world leaders at the World Government Summit in Dubai tomorrow. PM Modi’s Qatar visit comes at a very crucial moment. The visit follows the release of seven of eight former Indian Navy personnel who were put on the death row by Qatar. Seven sailors arrived back in India early Monday morning, but Commander Purnendu Tiwari, whose death sentence was commuted to a 25-year life term, is yet to return. His repatriation to India is also anticipated soon.
