India and Central American nation Nicaragua signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Pharmacopoeia on Cooperation in the field of the regulation of medicines. Nicaragua has become the First Country in Spanish speaking world to recognise Indian Pharmacopoeia.
The MoU was signed by Ambassador of India to Nicaragua Dr Sumit Seth & Minister of Health of Nicaragua Dr Martha Reyes. Nicaragua’s highest health authority expressed sincere gratitude to the Indian government for its unwavering support, highlighting the profound impact of the agreement on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing access to essential medicines for Nicaraguan citizens.
“This agreement symbolizes a significant milestone in the collaboration between our governments, ministries, and the regulatory bodies tasked with ensuring the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals,” the Indian envoy stressed.
Echoing these sentiments, Dr Seth highlighted India’s extensive experience in vaccine production and the manufacturing of top-notch medicines. “This agreement not only facilitates future procurement opportunities but also paves the way for knowledge-sharing initiatives between our respective drug regulatory authorities,” he remarked.
Dr Reyes reiterated the pivotal role of the agreement in reinforcing the government’s commitment to prioritizing public health and delivering comprehensive, high-quality healthcare services to all Nicaraguans.
Furthermore, MINSA’s chief highlighted Nicaragua’s progressive strides in influenza vaccine production and emphasized the imperative need for continued regulatory enhancement to uphold stringent standards for both medications and vaccines.
Switching gears, the Intercultural Health Model was hailed as a beacon of hope for families residing in the North Caribbean Coast, with Dr Seth emphasizing the memorandum’s profound implications for healthcare delivery and medication effectiveness.
And also expressed confidence that this partnership would serve as a catalyst for deeper collaboration between India and Nicaragua, particularly in the realm of pharmaceutical trade and healthcare innovation.
