Vistara Airlines faced a tough situation recently as it had to cancel more than 50 flights two days in a row due to non-availability of pilots.

DGCA seeks daily report

DGCA, the aviation watchdog, asked Vistara to give them a report every day about these cancellations and delays.

The civil aviation ministry is keeping a close watch on Vistara’s cancellations situation, which saw the resignations of at least 15 senior first officers in the recent past.

According to a source, the airline had to cancel more than 50 flights on Tuesday.

Under the summer schedule, which commenced on March 31, the airline is slated to operate slightly over 300 flights each day. It has around 800 pilots.

On Tuesday, the DGCA announced that due to several flight disruptions at Vistara, they have requested the airline to provide daily reports on cancelled and delayed flights.

DGCA officials are also overseeing the situation to ensure that Vistara complies with regulations for assisting passengers in case of flight cancellations and delays.

On Tuesday, the civil aviation ministry stated that it is keeping a close watch on the situation regarding Vistara’s flight cancellations.

“However, flight operations are managed by airlines themselves. Airlines have to comply with DGCA norms to ensure passenger facilitation in case of cancellation or delay of flights,” the ministry said in a post on X.
