A Bering Air flight carrying 10 people reportedly vanished from radar near Nome, Alaska, on Friday, according to BNO News. The aircraft was traveling from Unalakleet to Nome.
Alaska State Troopers confirmed the missing plane was a commercial Bering Air flight.
“On February 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., AST was contacted by AKRCC regarding an overdue aircraft. It was reported that a Bering Air Caravan had gone missing while en route from Unalakleet to Nome, with nine passengers and one pilot on board. SAR crews are working to reach the last known coordinates. Updates to follow,” the statement read.
A ground search is currently underway to locate the possible wreckage, another media report stated.
“Right now, air support is not available due to weather and icing, so we’re conducting a ground effort,” Alaska Public Media News quoted Danielle Sem, a spokesperson for tribal non-profit Kawerak, as saying.
