An American Airlines flight caught fire while parked at a gate of the Denver International Airport on Thursday. Passengers had to use emergency slides to leave the plane quickly. The fire started in the afternoon at gate C38. A photo from CBS News showed passengers standing on the plane’s wing as smoke filled the area. As of now, there has been no reports of injuries. The firefighters had the fire under control by the evening, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration said American Airlines Flight 1006 was redirected and had landed safely at the Denver International Airport on Thursday evening.
Quoting American Airlines’ statement, FOX31 reported that after safely landing and reaching the gate at Denver International Airport, Flight 1006 had an engine issue. The 172 passengers and 6 crew members safely exited the plane and were being moved to the terminal. The airline expressed gratitude to the crew, airport staff, and first responders for their quick actions to ensure the safety of everyone on board and on the ground.
The flight took off from Colorado Springs Airport and was on its way to Dallas Fort Worth Airport but was redirected to Denver International Airport. The plane was a Boeing 737-800, according to American Airlines.
