The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved Airbus for its state-of-the-art H160 helicopter model on Thursday marking a significant milestone for its entry into the Indian market.

Various entities in the country are currently operating over 100 Airbus helicopters, which also include the single-engine H125 model.

On Thursday, Airbus announced that its H160 helicopter has received a letter of type acceptance from the DGCA, as per the press release. This approval marks a significant step towards the H160’s introduction into the Indian market.

The H160, a versatile multi-role helicopter, holds potential applications in offshore transportation, emergency medical services, private and business aviation, and public services. Its approval by the DGCA opens doors for its utilization across various sectors in the country.

Sunny Guglani, Head of Airbus Helicopters, Airbus India and South Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the DGCA’s decision, emphasizing its implications for introducing the world’s most advanced helicopter to India.

Guglani highlighted Airbus Helicopters’ commitment to fostering a comprehensive helicopter ecosystem in India, “Airbus Helicopters is committed to developing a holistic helicopter ecosystem in India, including bringing the most advanced helicopter platforms to India, developing local capabilities and, as we announced in January this year, by starting to produce helicopters in India.”

In addition to the H160, Airbus’ H125, H130, and H145 models are already in operation across India, catering to diverse requirements in the aviation industry.
