Anushka Sharma’s NH10 box office collections have been hit by a slowdown on Day 1 itself, with just Rs 3.35 crore but managed to get some more bucks in its kitty on Day 2, with Rs 4.50 crore. Now, the film has earned Rs 7.85 crore in first two days. With the reports coming in from all quarters of the country that the film is doing average business, NH10 is expected to do better business in coming days.
This is surprising, considering the movie was being talked about for weeks now and was expected to do outstandingly well – opening day’s take, as such, is likely to be below expectations and it will have to hope for a better-than-expected weekend to keep up with the year’s best, including Akshay Kumar’s ‘Baby’ and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Badlapur’. Expectations were that it would be somewhere near a Rs 100-cr movie.
With just over Rs 3 crore from the opening day, NH10 stands as the 7th highest opening grosser of the year in a list headed by Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Roy’ with Rs 10.40 crore.

Anushka Sharma’s maiden production venture NH10 that also features her as the leading lady released today. The film which has garnered good reviews across the diaspora from the critics deals with the topic of honour killings and violence in North India. (Read: NH10 review)

NH10 that has been much talked about in the weeks prior to its release has not surprisingly started on a rather slow note. Reports from across the country suggest that the film has opened to a meager 25% occupancy rate during morning shows. This less than expected start can partially be attributed to the exam fever that has gripped the country coupled with a major chunk of cinema going audience religiously following the ongoing cricket World Cup, along with the ‘A’ rating certificate the film received.
Saw NH10. Absolutely engaging cinema. Edge of the seat till the end. Anushka is a delight to watch. — Rajkumar Hirani (@RajkumarHirani) March 12, 2015

On the whole, despite being a good film that managed to build up quite a bit of hype prior to its release NH10 faces a somewhat uphill task in terms of box office collections. Thanks to this, the movie will have to depend heavily on positive word of mouth overpowering the general notion that it may be too violent to watch.
