Global Internet brand Yahoo said it has entered into a partnership agreement with Idea Cellular to distribute its mobile search service Yahoo!oneSearch in India.
Yahoo!oneSearch, launched in Asia last month, gives consumers access to news, web images, financial information, weather conditions and websites.
Yahoo expects to leverage Idea Cellular’s over 15 million subscriber-base through this partnership to have a leadership position in mobile search in the country.
“Our partnership with Idea Cellular is helping to extend Yahoo’s clear leadership in search for mobile users in India,” Yahoo Vice-President and General Manager (Connected Life Asia) David Ko said.
Idea Cellular’s Chief Marketing Officer Pradeep Shrivastava said: “Yahoo!oneSearch provides Idea with a competitive advantage by offering a reliable and easy-to-use mobile search offer to consumers in India.”
“Our subscribers are increasingly looking for the quickes way to access services on the open Internet and the mobile device has now become a tool to get instant answers,” he added.
Yahoo!oneSearch is now available in 14 countries around the world.
