For the emerging Indian wine lover, this is the best time ever. Not only are wines from traditional markets on offer, an increasing Indian wines have registered their strong presence in the market. And there is space for more wine in the Indian market, feel wine experts. It is still an ?untapped? market as wine is a fragmented product with different types of wine from different regions.

Among those seeking a toehold in India is Ceretto Wines from Piedmont, Italy, who have inked a tie up with India?s Aspri Spirits.

Federico Ceretto, the third generation owner of Ceretto Wines, a super luxury brand, was in Mumbai recently. The history of the Ceretto brand is a story that goes back three generations. ?We have, in over 70 years made our wine an ambassador of Piedmont and Italy throughout the world,? relates Federico Ceretto. Warming to his family history, he says, ?Drawing on the craft, aptitude and skills of our fathers, this new generation of Cerettos is demonstrating that tradition also means transition ? looking to the future while continuing along the twin tracks laid down by our parents.?

The brand has a global presence, reiterates Ceretto. With Italian food registering its presence on global tables, Italian wine has followed close suit.

Coming to India now seems to make perfect sense, despite the global econimic slowdown. ?India is a growing market for wine and we wanted to be present in India at the right time so that when the market size increases, we have part of the pie.?

Outlining his business strategy, Ceretto said, ?It is very important to have right partners especially in challenging times like the present. This tie up will help us to target the right customers across India for our wines.?

Indians still haven?t reached the stage where most people sip wine regularly, admits Ceretto. He hopes this trend will change. Even though wine volumes are growing, major consumption is by corporate executives and international travellers. ?In the market place, at this moment one expects that entry price wines will generate more volumes. But we are positive that like other new wine markets, in India the premium and quality wines will grow steadily,? said Ceretto.

Ceretto Wines is coming to the Indian market with as many as seven labels of its wine covering all the important appellations of the Piedmont region ? Ceretto, Bricco Rocche, Brunate Barolo; Ceretto, Bricco Asili, Bernardot Barbaresco; Ceretto, Zonchera Barolo; Ceretto, Asij Barbaresco; Ceretto, Monsordo Langhe Rosso; Ceretto, Blange? Langhe Arneis; and Ceretto Moscato d?Asti. All of them will soon be available in 10 cities across India.
